“Heads South” are a lively five-piece jazz band who have the popular Buena Vista Social Club feel about them. They combine Afro-Cuban & Latin influenced rhythms with tuneful melodies in an enthralling evening of memorable new tunes and arrangements of loved standards such as Mack the Knife and Guantanamera.
The tempo goes from the bright to the moody, with cool, laid-back rhythms that you’ll want to soak up and others with a cha-cha vibe that will get you raring to jump up and grab a partner.
The band features top UK jazz trumpeter Steve Waterman and Cuban percussionist Chino Martell Morgan with John Harriman on piano and organ, Venezuelan bassist Adolfredo Pulido, and versatile drummer/percussionist Buster Birch.
