Whitwell Needs You!

Whitwell needs your help, or rather our younger residents do.  Whitwell has been without a Youth Club for a number of years and a dedicated group of people are trying to change that and they need your help.

A lot of the time consuming work has already been done, a committee is in place along with a constitution and a bank account.  Funding has already been applied for as well.  The only thing missing right now are volunteers to help run it and keep an eye on things.

It’s not going to be a completely structured club, it won’t be all planned activities requiring a huge amount of your time.  The plan is to run a “drop-in” style club where our young people can socialise in the dry out of the cold, get a hot drink and a snack with a bit of light supervision.

The plan is for the club to run on Tuesday evenings between 18:00 and 20:30 (ish) at Bakestone Moor Community Hall (Friendship Hall)

Volunteers will need a CRB check, but this can be arranged or if you chose then you can do the Volunteer Passport which includes training around volunteering, first aid etc.

To sign up you’ll need a form from the community centre.

Our New Website

Welcome to the brand new website for the Whitwell Community Centre and Bakestone Moor Community Hall – which we'll just call Whitwell Community Centres to keep things short.

We hope you'll find everything you need to know about what is available, what it costs and what is happening at the Community Centres.

As well as our new website we also have a new Facebook Fan Page which we'll be posting all of our news and events on to – With our current one, we're in danger of Facebook removing it due to their terms & conditions concerning places.   You can also follow us on Twitter as @WhitwellCentres

We welcome all suggestions and feedback from you, and if you're one of our many groups that use the facilities then we encourage you to provide us with more information about your group so that we can add it to our events pages and link to your website if you have one.
